Super League Kerala: Dorielton delights as Forca Kochi enters final
Two smart goals from striker Dorielton Gomes helped Forca Kochi FC flatten Kannur Warriors FC 2-0 and enter the final of the Super League Kerala football at the EMS Corporation Stadium in Kozhikode on Wednesday night.
Kochi will meet Calicut FC – the two sides which finished in the top two rungs of the league phase – in the final on November 10.
After a lackluster first hour in the semifinal, the goals came in an eight-minute spell midway through the second. And Dorielton’s first goal was one of the best seen in the SLK so far.

After receiving a rising delivery from Basanta Singh inside the crowded box, Dorielton chest-trapped the ball and came up with a superb bicycle kick that beat the goalkeeper P.A. Ajmal.
A few minutes later, the Brazilian scored his second. This time he moved into the box from the left, dodged defender Vikas by stepping aside and sent a right-footer to the far corner which just slipped under the goalkeeper and went in.
With that, Dorielton, who finished on top of the goalscorers’ list, took his tally to seven goals in this league.
The match, which began at 8 PM instead of the normal 7.30 PM kickoff, had been a dull affair for a major part before those twin strikes, with very few chances being created by both sides.
The only moments of excitement in the first half was the hard-working Nijo Gilbert’s runs on the left, dodging past defenders. And midway through the first half, Gilbert sent a fiery shot from the left and Ajmal effected an impressive save.
A couple of minutes later, Dorielton’s attempt went over.
The last two encounters, home and away, between the two sides had ended 1-1 in the league phase but tonight was a very different night.
